About

Curious about how things work.

I'm Ruben Tognetti, a third-year Industrial Product Design student with a strong pull toward technical complexity and the mechanics behind objects.

Where others see a finished product, I see a system of decisions. I'm most energised when a brief has real constraints — materials, users, mechanisms — and the solution has to be earned through understanding.

Minimalism isn't an aesthetic choice for me, it's a result. When something is fully understood, excess falls away.

Approach

Start with how it works, then make it look like it should.

Interests

Mechanisms, materials, efficiency, circular systems, interaction between user and object.

Tools

SolidWorks, Rhino, Arduino, hand sketching, physical prototyping.

Third year IPD — combining coursework with self-driven mechanical projects outside of school.
